DIY Skirts from Unique Pillowcases found at Goodwill

Hey Beautiful People-

When my Mom and I found this little project we were ecstatic. They are adorable, cheap and extremely unique.

Materials:
-pillowcase of your choice ( I found mine at Goodwill for $1-$2)
-thread
-2 inch elastic
-ric rac (or anything you would like to make cute, bias tape)

Instructions

1. measure the length of the skirt to be 20" (I left the hem of the pillowcase as the hem at bottom of skirt). Make sure you leave 3" for elastic waist band. Therefore, length at start should be 23".
2. measure waist and cut elastic band as follows        waist - 0.5 inch = measurement of elastic band
3. serge down side of pillowcase
4. fold down top of pillowcase 2.5 inches and pin
5. sew around creating a tube for the elastic leaving 4 inches open
6. use safety pin to feed elastic in and around the waist of the pillowcase
7. sew elastic band together
8. finish sewing the band once elastic is all in
9. fray block any loose ends
10. grab a cute belt and now you have a skirt

See pictures below. This tutorial helped me http://kojo-designs.com/2012/03/vintage-pillowcase-skirt/

However, just do your own thing. Have fun with it! If you have any questions please ask!

DIY Patio Table with Pallets

Hey Readers-

I apologize for falling of the face of the Earth but school got the best of me this past semester. Now that I have the summer off I am going to upload tons of posts about all of my most recent projects. I really wanted a coffee table made out of pallets for our outdoor seating area. Check out the pictures below to see the process. I think it fits perfectly with our Ikea outdoor furniture.

Materials
-(2) pallets
-sander
-wood stain (color of your choice, I used Espresso)
-paint brushes
-(4) 2.5 inch wheels casters
-screws
-power drill
-(1) 4x4 piece of wood

Instructions:

1. Sand both pallets and 4x4 piece of wood till smooth
2. Wipe all wood down with damp cloth and allow to dry
3. Stain all wood with 3 coats of stain or as many coats as you need to reach your desired look
4. All all wood to completely dry
5. Screw wheel casters onto the bottom pallet, one one each corner
6. Cut 4x4 wood into 8 inch pieces, 4 of them
7. Screw 4x4 pieces on each corner of the bottom pallet
8. Finally set top pallet on the 4x4 corners and screw top pallet to the corner pieces
9. Any last minute touch up with wood stain and your coffee table is complete!

Below are the pictures. If you have any questions please let me know! I am always happy to help.

Handcrafted Coasters

Hey Lovely Readers!

I am finally getting started on my blog. I have always wanted to start a blog. Please do not critique my writing skills, they are not great. If you do not like it then do not read. I love to be creative, I love my family, I love nursing, I love the outdoors, I love eating healthy, and I love sharing! I also thought this would be a great way for my family in other parts of the country to keep up on my family especially the kiddos.

I hope my blog with answer many of my friends and families questions when they say, "You will have to tell me how you made that!"

My first blog is about my Homemade Coasters I made for Christmas gifts this year. They were super easy and everyone loved them. Here is a shortened tutorial. I promise from now on they will get better and I will ensure they are more detail-oriented.

Supplies:

4x4 white tiles (Home Depot) 0.19 cents each
4x6 photos (Walgreens) 0.19 cents each
Mod Podge Matte (Wal-Mart) $8
Mod Podge Clear Acrylic Sealer Matte (Wal-Mart) $8
Round Felt Pieces 1" (Home Depot) $6 for 48
Paint Brush
Scissors

1. Get the pictures you desire to use printed as 4x6 from Walgreens or where ever you choose. Cut the photos to fit on 4x4 tiles perfectly. You do not want the picture to come off edge of tile.

2. Lay out the tiles on newspaper and paint the Mod-Podge on the tile and on back side of photo. Place photo on tile and place a layer of Mod-Podge on front of photo in the vertical direction. Allow this coat to completely dry.

3. Once first coat has completely dried, place second coat in the horizontal direction. Allow this coat to completely dry.

4. Now take all tiles outside and spray with Mod-Podge Sealer. You need 4 coats total. Do one coat every fifteen minutes.

5. Allow to dry completely over night and you will have the finished product.

6. Now place four felt circles on each tile, on the bottom. One in each corner.

7. Time to wrap in a pretty bow and give you your loved one!

8. Last but not least I must thank Pinterest for this wonderful idea. I absolutely love handcrafted gifts. They make the holidays truly special.

I hope you all had a wonderful time with family and friends through the holidays. Please come back to read more about the Tomaskovics and what is going on in our world!

Big Hugs-
